The Burma Calamity & Our Responsibilities

“And why should you not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)? – Men, women and children, whose cry is: ‘Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors…” (Al-Qur’an 4:75)

From one Tragedy to another Calamity

I call it a calamity because of the obvious reasons that it has transgressed the boundaries of a tragedy and is now making the atrocities of Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib look like miniature events. And even worse, the exact magnitude of this horrible nightmare befalling our brothers in Burma (Now Myanmar) is unknown because of the unfortunate silence of the world media.

But the obvious fact is that we Muslims around the world have let our brothers and sisters in Myanmar down just as we have let the Palestinians, Kashmiris, Bosnians, Chechnyans, Afghanis and Allah knows how many more we have left severely disappointed with our leaders showing total indifference to the plight of Muslims around the world.

There is no use blaming the Zionist controlled United Nations as even Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) is looking more Zionist controlled than ever with its total silence over the Burmese massacre. Thus there is no use seeking help from the Burmese Nobel Laurette Aung San Suu Kyi or the Dalai Lama or the US who supports and fights oppression as and when needed.

Aim/Purpose of The Disbelievers

The disbelievers are testing our resolve & the Burma tragedy is a great litmus test for the Muslim Ummah. It may be a sign of the things to come as we are now seeing in the Indian state of Assam. They are like a pack of hungry wolves having just devoured a prey and looking around and asking “Who is next?” But unfortunately no what matter what happens, we Muslims remain as lifeless as ever.

Our Responsibilities

O you who have believed, what is [the matter] with you that, when you are told to go forth in the cause of Allah , you adhere heavily to the earth? Are you satisfied with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But what is the enjoyment of worldly life compared to the Hereafter except a [very] little (Holy Quran 9:38)

“And why should you not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)? – Men, women and children, whose cry is: ‘Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors…” (Al-Qur’an 4:75)

“And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah.” (Al-Qur’an 2:193)

“…Unless you do this (protect each other), there would be tumult and oppression on earth, and great mischief…” (Al-Qur’an 8:73)

Jihad is of various kinds: with one’s soul, one’s wealth, by making dua, by speaking out & guiding others and by giving Da’wah

The best Jihad

The greatest form of Jihad is with one’s soul i.e. fighting in the way of Allah. Muslims will have to draw a line and take a stand against all the atrocities being committed against them through the world; otherwise they will be wiped out. The time has come where Muslim nations have to take a collective stand in the UN and even demand a permanent seat in the Security Council.  Its time to say that enough is enough; we are being pushed against the wall and are bleeding to death.

Declaration of Jihaad

The Qur’an commands Muslims to make a proper declaration of war prior to the commencement of military operations. The Khalifah makes the declaration of Jihaad by the sword, but since there is no Khalifah of the Muslim Ummah at present, the declaration is made by the head of state.

The Muslims in Saudi Arabia, Africa, North Africa and Asia are obliged to do their utmost, and if there is a jihad in one country, the surrounding countries should hasten to help them, the closest then the next closest.  If one or two states, or three or more, manage to fulfill the obligation, then the rest are freed of responsibility. They deserve to be supported, and it is obligatory to help them against their enemies, because they are oppressed. Allah has enjoined jihad upon all Muslims, and they must fight against the enemies of Allah until their brothers are victorious.

A saying of the Prophet (PBUH) “Whoever dies without having fought or having resolved to fight has died following one of the branches of hypocrisy.” (Muslim).

Jihad by the Sword

Jihad by taking arms is an obligation upon the community; if some people undertake it, the rest are relieved of the obligation. It is a “Fard-e-Kafayah”.

Ulema Kiram have stated that Jihad (by the sword) against oppression of Burmese Muslims is compulsory upon the Muslim Armies around the world.

Fard kafaayah means is that if enough people do not undertake it, then all the people are guilty of sin, but if enough people undertake it, the rest will be relieved of blame. Initially the command is addressed to all of them, as in the case of an individual obligation (fard ‘ayn), but then in the case of fard kafaayah the obligation is dropped if enough of the people undertake to do it.

Jihad by sword is a fard-e- kafaayah, according to the majority of scholars if a Muslim country is under oppression. Jihad by arms is obligatory or Fard-e-ayn if a person is present where fighting is going on.

‘Offensive’ Jihad

This is a case where taking the ‘offense’ by armies of brotherly Muslim countries against the oppression being done to brother Muslims/humans in another Muslim country/another place. Helping Burmese Muslims is a perfect example of this offensive Jihad.

The Quran is consistent in expressing the goal of armed warfare as defense of the community. It does not permit aggression, terrorism, or attacks against any category of peaceful people.

Allah said:

Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress. Verily, Allah does not love transgressors.

Surat al-Baqarah 2:190

Again only Muslim governments can give consent to their armies for such an ‘offensive’ Jihad.

Jihaad with Wealth

This is the most which we Muslims can do at the moment at a collective and individual level and that is donate as much as possible to reliable organizations who are collecting funds for the people of Burma. This also includes all other types of help INCLUDING PROVIDING SHELTER AND REFUGE to the Burmese Muslims, which unfortunately Bangladeshi leaders have openly refused.

Jihaad with the Tongue

Muslims must continue to speak up and answer the critics especially against the liberal fascists as well as against the disbelievers and to those Muslims who are still sleeping and unaware of the gravity of the situation facing Muslims around the world. They must be told that “Today it is them, tomorrow it will be us”.

For this we have to use every media possible; electronic, print and social media; lectures, conferences, meetings etc. Besides this we all have to sincerely pray to Allah for help.

Muslims answers to Liberal Fascist Hypocrites

Liberal fascists often questions

1.      Why don’t you guys go for Jihaad if you’re so concerned about the Burmese Muslims”.

2.      Have you taken the responsibility (theka) of all Muslims of the world?

Muslims answer,

1.      “By God if our leaders had declared Jihaad, we would have been the first to go!”

2.      Yes we have taken responsibility. A hadith says:

He, who wakes up without any concern for the affairs of Muslims, is not a Muslim; & he who hears the cry, `O Muslims!’ without responding is not a Muslim. (Muslim)

You can’t ignore the Muslims’ affairs when they are facing great challenges and say that “I will mind my own business”.

The messenger also said the following:

“One who listens to the call of a Muslim for help and does not respond is not a Muslim”

“The Faithful Are Like A Single Body: If His Eye Suffers, Then His Constitution Will Suffer; And If He Has A Headache, Then His Whole System Will Suffer.” (Muslim)

“Truly The Faithful Are To One Another Like Components Of A Building—Each Part Supports The Other.” (Muslim And Bukhari).

O you who believe! When you meet those who disbelieve, in a battlefield, never turn your backs to them! (Holy Quran 8: 15)

“Fight Those Who Fight You until there is no more tumult or oppression.” Holy Quran  (2: 193)

Otherwise wait for the punishment of Allah before it is too late! :-
